Hello!
I post/reblog mostly nature images, with credit where possible; I love the textures and colors of this world, I want to discover and appreciate as much of it as I can!
Feel free to use the submit option if there's not enough space in an ask. ( ゚ ▽ ゚)ノ
Tonicella lineata :: Lined Chiton
Calliostoma ligatum :: Blue Top Snail
Puffinus gravis :: Great Shearwater

The best shot I could get of the “shearwater” maneuver, where the bird dips one wing into the ocean. This looks to me like a deliberate action, perhaps in order to slow down or make a fast turn, but I’m not completely sure of this. However I saw it several times, and it always looked controlled. Given this is the name of the bird, I imagine it does it on purpose. (Funny, I’ve never seen this as an explanation for the common name of these birds, but I’m pretty darn sure that is the case, because that is exactly what the bird is doing—shearing the water.)
